ASK THE BUYERS!

Candace Muskat and Robbie Brown, clothing and shoe buyers for Muskat Brown, answer some of your questions.

Q: Is there a big difference between a regular size and a petite size?
A: There is a tremendous difference between a “regular” and a “petite” fit. A petite size is designed specifically for a woman under 5’4". From sleeve length, to the rise of the pant, to inseam length, you’ll see the difference once you try on petite sizes.

Q: Are there fashion rules I have to follow as a petite woman? I’ve heard I shouldn’t wear Capri pants.
A: That’s nonsense! There are no specific rules a petite woman has to follow. We feel that all the old rules about what you can and can’t wear were made up as marketing ploys. Fashion is an attitude. Of course you have to be able to feel right wearing something, you have to be able to carry it off, but that comes from your attitude and personality, not your height!

Q: Sure, I get the great fit of a petite size. But I find some petites to be frumpy, or worse, cutesy. Do I really have to sacrifice fashion?
A: Never! When we buy, we always look for great fashion items. Fashion is always our number one priority. I want people to shop here not just because we have things that fit, but because we have great fashion and great service.

Q: Can I shop online?
A: Not at the moment, but we are considering it due to increasing demand.

Q: What about opening up another store?
A: We have been approached several times for franchising, but we like the fact that we have one great store. Candace and I can be on the selling floor and get feedback from our customers. Plus, this way, we can keep our staff consistent and fantastic. We consider ourselves a service store, not a pressure store.
